Professor of Nursing- Interim Director of Nursing
Where did you earn your degrees?
I am an alumna of Gordon State College, nursing class of 1994. I went on to graduate with a baccalaureate and master’s degree from The Medical College of Georgia, and currently, I am completing my doctoral degree from UGA.
When did you come to Gordon, and what brought you here?
I came to GSC as a faculty member in 2005. I came to GSC because I wanted to teach and I live in Barnesville, Ga.
What are your favorite courses to teach, and why?
My favorite course to teach is Maternal Child Nursing because I am a Neonatal/Pediatric Nurse.
What interests you about your field?
The field of Nursing interests me most because it allows me to give back through providing care, teaching and empowering others.
What are some highlights of your career at Gordon?
One of the biggest highlights of my career at GSC has been to work alongside professors that taught me when I was a student here.
How does your research or scholarship inspire your teaching?
My research is about noncognitive factors for success, and this interests me because I believe that there is more to being successful than an exam grade.
What do you hope students gain from their classroom experience with you?
I believe that our work is diverse, and this is what makes it interesting. I hope that I empower my students to make a difference.
Favorite place to be/thing to do on campus is.
I like the gym for exercise, my office for quiet time, the ball fields to watch the good competition and the classroom to share my energy.

Beyond the GSC campus, I like to spend time with my family and dogs.
Favorite book?
All books are my favorite books; I love to read!

I am proud to be a Highlander because I think that I make a difference.
