Meet Ashley Travis

Staff Spotlight

Meet Ashley Travis; innovative education specialist, chair of the Staff Welfare Committee and future alumna of Gordon State College.

Travis was raised in the Bahamas and moved to Scotland for six years when she was 20 years old. In Scotland, she worked at and completed her Higher National Diploma (HND) in business before moving to Georgia.

Travis joined the Highlander family as the academic assistant for the business and public service department in 2013 before transitioning into her current role in the Office of Innovative Education and Strategic Initiatives two years ago. As the innovative education specialist, Travis works with adult learners just like herself. Helping the non-traditional students through the admission process and beyond is what she finds most fulfilling in her current role.

Travis has been a part-time student working towards her bachelor’s degree in business and administration for the past six years. Expected to graduate this semester, she has maintained a 4.0 GPA while working full-time and raising her 4-year-old son. Spending time with her family and rediscovering her love for crafting is what she looks forward to most after graduating.

Having been both a student and employee of Gordon, it is the sense of community that comes from the smaller campus size that makes her feel at home.
