Meet Autumn Schaffer Moore

Staff Spotlight
Meet Autumn Schaffer Moore; Instructional Designer and Gordon State alumna.
Moore is currently in her ninth year as the instructional designer within the Information Technology Department at Gordon State College. She is also a 2009 graduate of Gordon’s first cohort in the Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education program. After graduating from Gordon, Moore taught math and technology standards at an elementary school in Griffin, Georgia before returning to Gordon as an employee. In addition to her bachelor’s degree from Gordon, Moore has also earned a master’s and education specialist degree in Instructional Technology & Media from Georgia Southern University and the University of West Georgia, respectively. She also holds teaching certifications in the fields of elementary education, adapted curriculum, media science, instructional technology and online teaching. She is a native of Barnesville, Georgia and a former chair of Gordon’s Alumni Association.
As an instructional designer, Moore researches, implements and provides training for the educational technologies used by faculty, staff and students at Gordon State College. She works with faculty to develop course templates and open educational resources. She also teaches part-time within Gordon’s School of Education, Mathematics, and Applied Sciences. Her goal is to ensure that Gordon’s online courses are up to par with the fantastic instruction students receive on-campus at Gordon State. She hopes to see Gordon expand online learning opportunities to reach potential students who want to continue their education but have other obligations outside of the classroom. When asked about her purpose at Gordon State, Moore said, “I had such a wonderful experience at Gordon as a student because I had a dedicated team to help me succeed. I hope to be a part of that team for other Gordon students.”
In addition to working in the Instructional Technology Department and teaching part-time at Gordon, Moore enjoys listening to audiobooks, taking her niece on adventures and going for hikes with her husband.
