Textbook Affordability Council

Purpose

The purpose of the Textbook Affordability Councilis to:

  • Promote and support affordable or free teaching and learning materials to save students money
  • Provide credible and reliable learning resources for the classroom

Duties

The duties of the Textbook Affordability Council include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure affordable, supportive access to educational resources
  • Promote Affordable Learning Georgia initiatives
  • Promote the creation, use, and implementation of free or low-cost open education resources including textbooks in the classroom
  • Promote the use and implementation of library resources in the classroom
  • Conduct workshops on locating and utilizing open education and library resources in the classroom
  • Conduct workshops on applying for book transformation grants
  • Conduct workshops on textbook affordability and what is involved with reducing student costs
  • Determine methods for reducing textbook costs
