Purpose
The purpose of the Textbook Affordability Councilis to:
- Promote and support affordable or free teaching and learning materials to save students money
- Provide credible and reliable learning resources for the classroom
Duties
The duties of the Textbook Affordability Council include but are not limited to:
- Ensure affordable, supportive access to educational resources
- Promote Affordable Learning Georgia initiatives
- Promote the creation, use, and implementation of free or low-cost open education resources including textbooks in the classroom
- Promote the use and implementation of library resources in the classroom
- Conduct workshops on locating and utilizing open education and library resources in the classroom
- Conduct workshops on applying for book transformation grants
- Conduct workshops on textbook affordability and what is involved with reducing student costs
- Determine methods for reducing textbook costs
