Where did we come from?

Established in 2013 by a consortium of interested faculty, Gordon State’s Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) has provided a forum for discussion of a wide variety of topics, including instructional design, class planning, student engagement, creative pedagogy, and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). Through the years, CETL has promoted a variety of activities, including Brown Bag Discussions, Faculty Learning Communities, practical workshops on a variety of teaching-related topics, and Adjunct Evenings. An annual highlight for many years was the Teaching Matters Conference, which drew interested faculty from throughout Georgia. The conference was discontinued in 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions. Since this time, GSC faculty engage in the Student Success and Teaching Summit held each Spring. Here faculty share their own work with peers and colleagues in the area of SoTL.
