Resources for Highlander Scholars

Your success is our priority.

As a Highlander Scholar, you are part of a supportive community designed to help you thrive academically, personally, and professionally. Gordon State College provides a wide range of on-campus resources to ensure every Scholar has the tools, guidance, and care they need to succeed.

Below are the key services and supports available to all Highlander Scholars.

Academic Advising

Every Highlander Scholar is assigned a professional academic advisor who works closely with students from the first semester through program completion. Advisors assist with:

  • Course selection and academic planning

  • Staying on the prescribed HSP program map

  • Monitoring progress toward degree and transfer eligibility

  • Preparing for transfer to Georgia Tech

Your advisor is your partner in planning, progress, and success.

Academic Coaching

Highlander Scholars also have access to dedicated faculty academic coaches who provide personalized support beyond traditional advising. Coaches meet with students to:

  • Discuss academic challenges and opportunities in their courses

  • Offer strategies for time management and study skills

  • Connect Scholars with tutoring, counseling, and other campus support resources

  • Encourage personal accountability and confidence in their academic journey

Coaching is designed to help you overcome obstacles, stay motivated, and make the most of your experience.

The Testing Center ensures every student has a fair and accessible testing experience.
