International Studies

Study Abroad

International Studies at Gordon include multiple opportunities for study abroad.  There is a four-week trip to Barcelona, Spain, every summer that provides six hours of credit in Spanish.  Courses in Human Services include opportunities to study in countries such as Costa Rica and Peru.  Additionally, students may study in London, Paris, Madrid, Berlin, St. Petersburg, Edinburgh, and Waterford (Ireland) through the University System of Georgia’s European Council.

Today’s increasingly global world and challenging job market require graduates to have more specialized skills. Studying abroad allows students to become acquainted with another culture and to gain a different perspective on the world.  Study abroad programs give students the unique opportunity to gain skills that will distinguish them from other college graduates. Program participation builds personal confidence; improves critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving; and enhances teamwork and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

In short, students who study abroad learn more about the world, enjoy new experiences, develop new skills, and are more attractive to prospective employers.
