Reporting Information
By January 31st of each year, Gordon State College prepares IRS Form 1098-T for elgible students reflecting amounts associated with qualified tuition and related expenses for the prior calendar year as outlined in the IRS regulations.
Per IRS regulations, qualified tuition and related expenses are defined as tuition, fees, and course materials required for a student to be enrolled at or attend an eligible educational institution. According to the IRS, the following are not considered qualified tuition and related expenses:
- Amounts paid for any course or other education involving sports, games, or hobbies, unless the course or other education is part of the student’s degree program or is taken to acquire or improve job skills.
- Charges and fees for room, board, insurance, medical expenses (including student health fees), transportation, and similar personal, living, or family expenses.

Paper or Electronic?
To receive an electronic IRS 1098-T, you must select give consent prior to January 1 of the following year for which tax statements are being prepared.
Students who have selected "I Do Not Consent" should expect the form to be mailed by January 31st.

Access 1098-T Online
1098-T Tax Statements will be available to students in your Student Account Center and via your Heartland ECSI account by January 31st of each year. An email will be sent to your GSC student email address when statements are ready.
Access through your Student Account Center - Login to your Student Account center, click view Statements and the 1098-T Tax statement tab.
Access through Heartland ECSI - Visit Heartland ECSI, click I need my 1098-T Tuition tax statement, and then type in Gordon State College. Set up a Heartland account or log in with your Heartland credentials if you already have an account.
