Refunds

The Bursar’s Office processes all student refunds in accordance with the Department of Education Rules and Regulations, which states that refunds should be processed for any credits within 14 days of the student's disbursement date. It is important to remember that all charges must be paid by your disbursements before a refund will be issued.

Once refunds have been processed, impacted students will receive an email indicating their refund amount and method.

Establish a Refund Account

  • Log into your Student Account Center
  • Select "Refunds"

View Your Disbursement Date

  • Log into Banner Web
  • Select "Financial Aid"
  • Select "Award"
  • Select "Award Payment Schedule"
  • Select the appropriate aid year

This will show all of your disbursements and the date they will be available.

  • Expected Date - the date the funds will be disbursed to your account.
  • Expected Amount - the amount that will be disbursed on the expected date.*
  • Paid to Date - the amount that has already been disbursed.

*This is not always the same as your refund amount. All charges must be covered by your disbursements before any refunds will be issued to you.

Refund Types

All students initially are set to receive a paper check refund. Students also have the option of using direct deposit, which may be set up through the Student Account Center.

Direct Deposit

Direct Deposit is the fastest refund choice available. Once the refund email has been received, students should expect their refund in their account within 1-2 business days.

Paper Check

Paper checks are mailed to your permanent mailing address listing in Banner Web. All paper checks are mailed from Chicago, IL and are estimated to be delivered to the student's home address within 7-10 business days.

Special Note on Parent Plus Loans

A student account with a credit after disbursement that received a Parent Plus Loan (PPL) will be refunded to the parent unless otherwise requested during the application process. Currently, all PPL refunds to the parent are sent as paper checks.
