Summer Leadership Development Academy

 Get a Head Start on College Success!

The Gordon State College Leadership Development Academy is a four-week summer bridge program designed for first-time, full-time college students ready to jump-start their journey toward success.

As part of GSC’s Title III Grant, students in the GSC-LDA will:

✅ Earn college credit before the Fall semester
✅ Build academic confidence and leadership skills
✅ Form lasting connections and friendships
✅ Participate in an enrichment trip and end-of-program celebration 

Program Overview

The Gordon State College Leadership Development Academy combines academic learning, leadership development, and college readiness workshops to help students transition smoothly into college life.

Throughout the program, students will:

• Complete two accelerated college courses

• Participate in interactive workshops led by GSC faculty, staff, and student mentors

• Enjoy hands-on learning experiences and campus life activities

2. Strengthen academic skills and self-confidence

3. Build community and a sense of belonging

4. Equip students with the tools and resources for long-term success

Program Highlights

All Tuition, Room & Board Covered!

Tuition and fees for designated bridge courses (ENGL 1101, FIRE 1000), student meals and housing are included at no cost for all Gordon State College 2026 Leadership Development Academy students! To reiterate, This offer is only for students that are accepted to the 2026 Summer Leadership Academy for the duration of 2026 Summer B term (July 1 - July 27, 2026).

Here’s what makes the 2026 Gordon State College Leadership Development Academy experience exceptional:

• Cohort Model: Students move through classes and activities together, building lasting friendships and support.

• Accelerated College Courses:

  • FIRE 1000 – First-Year Experience Seminar (2 credit hours)

  • ENGL 1101 –  English Composition I (3 credit hours)

• Leadership & Success Workshops: Learn directly from GSC faculty, staff, and peer mentors.

• Enrichment Trip: Visit the Georgia State Capitol and explore leadership in action.

• Celebration Event: Recognize your achievements at the official Gordon State College Leadership Development Academy Completion Ceremony.

Student Expectations

To make the most of your experience, all participants must:

• Live on campus for the 2026 Summer B Term ( tuition for Summer Leadership Development Academy courses, housing and meals are fully covered for the duration of the Summer Leadership Academy).

• Attend and participate in all courses, workshops, study sessions, and enrichment activities.

• Uphold the GSC Student Code of Conduct throughout the program.

Eligibility Requirements

Participation in the 2026 Gordon State College Leadership Development Academy depends on continuation of Title III funding and space availability.

To qualify, students must:

• Fill out a Gordon State College Application for enrollment to the college
• Fill out their  2026 - 2027 FAFSA for Fall 2026

• Be enrolled as a full-time student (15 credit hours) for Fall 2026.

• Live on campus during both the 2026 Summer Leadership Development Academy duration  and Fall 2026 semester.

• Attend A New Student Orientation before the 2026 GSC Leadership Academy begins on July 1st.

Preferred Candidates:

• First-time, full-time college students who have completed high school (or equivalent) before the start of the program.
