Gordon State College Earns Silver Military Friendly® School Designation for 2025-2026

By Karolina Philmon, GSC marketing manager

Gordon State College has been named a 2025–2026 Military Friendly® School, earning Silver status in recognition of its continued commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families.

“We are so proud to have been upgraded to Silver Military Friendly® status this year,” said Ashley Travis, GSC adult learner coordinator. “We truly strive to create an environment where those who have served our country feel valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their educational goals.”

The Military Friendly® Schools list, published by G.I. Jobs magazine and available at www.militaryfriendly.com, evaluates institutions based on public data and a proprietary survey that assesses student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, and support services for military-affiliated students.

More than 1,800 colleges and universities participated in this year’s survey. GSC was among the select group awarded Silver distinction for exceeding the standard in serving military-connected students. The college was also recognized as a Military Spouse Friendly® School for its demonstrated support of military spouses pursuing higher education.

This recognition highlights Highlander Nation’s commitment to military-affiliated students. GSC’s Student Veteran and Adult Learner (SVAL) Association supports this population through peer engagement, leadership development, and access to academic and personal resources. The SVAL Association is an active member of Student Veterans of America (SVA), a national organization that advocates for and empowers student veterans.

The Military Friendly® School designation is awarded by Viqtory, an organization that connects the military community to educational and employment opportunities. The designation promotes data-driven standards and encourages institutions to continually improve their programs and services.

“Military Friendly® is committed to transparency and providing consistent data-driven standards in our designation process,” said Kayla Lopez, Military Friendly® vice president. “Our standards provide a benchmark that promotes positive outcomes and support services that better the educational landscape and provides opportunity for the military community. Schools who achieve awards designation show true commitment in their efforts, exceeding the standard.”
