On Monday, Nov. 24, the Gordon State College Foundation presented two checks totaling $40,000 to the School of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences. The gift will support nursing education on the Barnesville campus and at the GSC McDonough Center located at the Academy for Advanced Studies.

The Foundation awarded $5,000 to support lab enhancements at the McDonough Center and $35,000 for the purchase of a Nurse Ann Simulator, a high-fidelity training tool that will expand hands-on learning opportunities for students.

“These gifts show our commitment to supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals,” said Natalie Rischbieter, executive director of the GSC Foundation. “It is vital to invest in the tools and training students need to succeed. The Foundation is proud to help strengthen nursing education and ensure our graduates are ready to meet the healthcare needs of the communities we serve.”

The gifts arrive as Georgia continues to face a statewide nursing shortage. This new funding supports priorities upheld across the School of Nursing, Health, and Natural Sciences. Dr. Victor H. Vilchiz, dean of the school, has emphasized the department’s commitment to expanding student learning opportunities that strengthen workforce readiness and support long-term success in healthcare fields.
