1. What to Expect in a Dual Enrollment Course

Dual Enrollment students are Gordon State College students and participate in the same college-level academic experience as other GSC students.

• DE students are generally enrolled in regular GSC courses alongside non-DE college students.
• Courses offered at an off-site location, such as a high school or Dual Enrollment center, may be designated specifically for DE students.
• Students are held to the same academic standards, deadlines, grading expectations, and course requirements as other students.
• Courses may be offered in person or online, depending on the course and semester.
• GSC courses follow the Gordon State College academic calendar, which may differ from high school and district calendars. Students remain responsible for GSC classes and assignments during high school breaks, including Spring Break.

2. Course Policies & Responsibilities

Each course has a syllabus outlining the instructor's expectations and course requirements. Students should review their syllabus carefully at the beginning of each semester.

Course syllabi may include:

• Attendance and participation requirements
• Assignments, exams, and deadlines
• Grading policies
• Required textbooks or course materials
• Instructor communication and course-specific policies

Questions about a specific course, assignment, grade, attendance requirement, or course policy should be directed to the course instructor.

Students should remember that GSC coursework becomes part of their permanent college academic record. Poor performance when in GSC courses will also impact your financial aid in the future.

3. Dual Enrollment Funding & Course Costs

Eligible students may receive Georgia Dual Enrollment funding for up to 30 semester credit hours of approved courses.

• Not every GSC course is eligible for Dual Enrollment funding.
• Students should confirm funding eligibility when selecting courses.
• If a course is not covered by Georgia's Dual Enrollment funding program, students may have the option to enroll and pay the applicable costs out of pocket.

4. Choose Courses with Your Future Degree in Mind

The best Dual Enrollment plan isn't simply about earning credits—it's about earning credits that count toward your future degree.

Students should:

• Work with their GSC Dual Enrollment advisor
• Consider their intended college major
• Prioritize Core Curriculum and degree requirements
• Review course prerequisites
• Plan carefully around the 30-credit-hour funding limit

5. Course Eligibility & Placement

Eligibility for specific Dual Enrollment courses varies by course. Many courses have few additional requirements for eligible 11th- and 12th-grade students, while others require specific high school preparation or completion of college-level prerequisites.

Keep in mind: Being eligible for Dual Enrollment and admission to GSC does not necessarily mean a student is eligible for every course. Other courses may also have prerequisites not shown above. Students should work with their high school counselor and GSC Dual Enrollment advisor when selecting courses
