Student Account Setup

Welcome New Highlander!

Please follow these steps in order to complete the setup of your Gordon State accounts.

1) Download Duo Mobile from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store on your cellphone.

2) Go to https://www.gordonstate.edu 

3) Scroll to the bottom of the page, locate the Password Reset Utility Link.

4) This will take you to the Gordon State College Password Reset webpage.  You may watch the Password Reset Video or just click on the Password Reset Utility link under the video.

5) Once the Password Reset page opens, type in your Gordon State College email address and click the Continue button.

6) Click the "Use Challenge Questions to Authenticate" option.

7) Locate the PIN number included with your Admissions paperwork.  If you do not have your PIN, you may use the chatbot located on the Gordon State website to have a new PIN generated for you.  Just tell the chatbot "I need a PIN" and Mac should provide you a new PIN.  

8) Once you enter the PIN and click the Continue button, you will be prompted to create your own 3 security questions which will allow you to reset your password in the future.  Choose 3 questions, provide your answers, and click Finish.

9) After clicking Finish you will be returned to the main password reset login page where you will be asked to log in a second time, enter your Gordon State email address again and click the Continue button.

10) Once you sign in the second time, you will be presented with a Password Reset, Account Unlock, and Update Profile option.  Click the Password Reset button and answer the security questions you just created.  Next you will be asked to enter a new password.  Confirm the password a second time and click the "Reset" button. Wait for the Green "Successful" message and your password is now set.

11) Open the App Store on your mobile device and search for DUO Mobile.  Confirm the app icon looks like this: Image of the Duo Mobile logo on a green background if you are seeing a different logo that is the wrong DUO Mobile app.

12) Once the app has been downloaded, open a web browser (preferable from a computer or laptop) and go to www.gordonstate.edu

13) Scroll to the bottom of the webpage and look for the Brightspace by D2L link and click the link.

14) Click the "Faculty, Staff, and Students Log In Here" button.

15) Type your Gordon State College email address on the displayed Sign In page.

16) Users that have not already setup their DUO Mobile account will see a Welcome to DUO Security page.

17) Get the Get Started button to add your device to DUO Mobile.  When the Add a device windows pops up Choose the "Duo Mobile" option.

18) Enter your phone number and click the continue button (Note: If you are a parent, students need to set this up on their cell phones as it is required to access numerous Gordon State systems.  Duo should not be installed on a parent's cell phone).

19) "Is this Correct?" - Click the "Yes, it's correct button (Unless, of course, you entered the wrong phone number)

20) Assuming you have already downloaded Duo Mobile on your cellphone, click the "Next" button.

21) Scan the QR Code that is displayed on YOUR computer with your cellphone (the QR code in the image below is not functional).

22) The last step is to confirm this is your device.  Click the "Yes, this is my device" button.

Congrats! You now have DUO Mobile installed and configured on your mobile device.

Accessing your Gordon State Email

23) Return to the Gordon State College website, Scroll to the bottom of the web page, locate and click the Gordon Email link.

24) Enter your Gordon State email address (ie: xx111111@gordonstate.edu) and click "Next"

25) When the Single Sign-On page is displayed, click the "Next" button.

26) Click the Duo Push option and Approve the request on your cellphone in the Duo Mobile App.

CONGRATS! You have successfully reset your Gordon account password, installed and configured the Duo Mobile App, and accessed your Gordon State Email account.
