From Application to Enrollment!
Ready to become a Gordon State College Dual Enrollment student? This step-by-step guide will take you from exploring Dual Enrollment to requesting your first GSC courses.
Simply follow the steps below in order. Starting early is important—completing your application, funding requirements, and course requests early gives you the best opportunity to be ready when classes begin.

Step 1: Talk with Your Counselor & Family
Before applying, talk with your high school counselor and your parent or guardian about what you want to accomplish through Dual Enrollment.
Students generally approach Dual Enrollment with one of three goals:
- Complete high school requirements while earning college credit.
- Get an early start on college while still deciding on a future major.
- Begin a specific degree pathway by taking courses that satisfy requirements for an intended major.
Knowing your goal will help your counselor and GSC advisor recommend courses that make the best use of your Dual Enrollment opportunities.
Step 2: Determine Your Eligibility
Before enrolling, make sure you meet Gordon State College and Dual Enrollment eligibility requirements.
11th & 12th Grade Students
- Minimum 3.0 GPA in the Required High School Curriculum (RHSC)
- ACT or SAT scores are not required for 11th- and 12th-grade students
- Must be on track to complete the USG Required High School Curriculum
- RHSC GPA focuses on approved academic coursework, including English, math, and science; some electives are not included
10th Grade Students
10th-grade students may participate if they meet GSC's GPA requirements and additional testing requirements.
- Must successfully complete the 9th grade before enrolling at GSC
- Must meet the required SAT or ACT score requirements
- SAT score requirement is 1200
- ACT score requirement is 26
- Must be on track toward completing the USG Required High School Curriculum
- Must demonstrate appropriate progress in English and mathematics, including progress toward completing two English and two math courses
Step 3: Apply to Gordon State College
Once you've determined that you're eligible, complete the Gordon State College application for admission.
Apply as a Dual Enrollment student and apply as early as possible. Don't wait until the registration deadline approaches.
To help GSC review your application and make an admission decision quickly, make sure all required documents are submitted.
Upload with your application:
- Completed immunization form — students may identify as exempt on the form, if needed. Click here to download the immunization form.
- Homeschool transcript and/or portfolio (homeschool only)
- A copy of your birth certificate OR the FRONT AND BACK of your driver's license
- The FRONT AND BACK of a parent or guardian's driver's license
Public & Private High School Transcripts: Your high school counselor or school may email your transcript to dualenrollment@gordonstate.edu or submit it through the transcript submission link GSC provides to counselors and schools in our monthly emails.
Important: If submitting a driver's license, uploading only the front is not sufficient. Both the front and back are required.
Not submitting all required documents can delay your admission decision and enrollment.
Already submitted everything? If you have submitted all required application documents and it has been more than two weeks without an admission decision, please email dualenrollment@gordonstate.edu immediately so we can look into the issue.
Step 4: Complete Your GAfutures Dual Enrollment Funding Application
After completing your GSC application, complete the Dual Enrollment Funding Application through GAfutures.
COMPLETE THE GAFUTURES DUAL ENROLLMENT FUNDING APPLICATION
This is an important step because the funding application is required for eligible students to receive Georgia Dual Enrollment funding for approved courses.
Complete it early in the process. You will need:
- Your Social Security number
- Information about your parent or guardian
- Information needed to determine Georgia residency and funding eligibility
Because parent or guardian information is required, we recommend that students and parents/guardians complete the application together.
Homeschool Families: Homeschool students require additional steps. Families will need to complete the appropriate student funding application and homeschool/institution application so that courses can be approved for the student.

Step 5: Request Your Courses
Once you've identified the courses you want to take, submit your course requests as early as possible.
You can review the courses GSC is offering for a specific semester before submitting your requests:

Public & Private School Students
- Work with your high school counselor to request courses.
- Counselors have access to GSC's Dual Enrollment Course Request Form or may provide the form to students to complete.
Homeschool Students
- Students or parents should email dualenrollment@gordonstate.edu to request access to the Dual Enrollment Course Request Form.
Don't wait for an admission decision to request courses. You may submit course requests while your GSC application is still being processed. Requesting early gives us more time to work with you and increases the likelihood that appropriate course options will be available.
See a course that looks full? Request it anyway. If a course appears full in the GSC course search tool above, you should still include it on your Dual Enrollment Course Request Form. Submitting the request allows us to evaluate available options and determine whether we can accommodate the request.
Please allow approximately 1–2 weeks for GSC to process the request and provide confirmation of registration (your course schedule). Processing times may vary during high-volume registration periods. Once registration is confirmed, review your schedule carefully to make sure it matches the courses you intended to take.
Step 6: Complete DE Orientation & the DE Policies Acknowledgement
Before classes begin, new Dual Enrollment students should complete GSC Dual Enrollment New Student Orientation and the Dual Enrollment Policies Acknowledgement Form.
Dual Enrollment New Student Orientation
If you are new to Gordon State College, you should register to participate in the Dual Enrollment New Student Orientation. Click below to register for DE orientation.
- Do not register for regular GSC New Student Orientation.
- You do not need to pay an orientation fee.
- DE Orientation is relatively short, but it contains important information to help you prepare for your college experience.
Dual Enrollment Policies Acknowledgement
All Dual Enrollment students should also review and acknowledge GSC policies related to Dual Enrollment courses and course funding by completing the form below.

Completing these steps will help make sure you understand important GSC expectations and are prepared for your Dual Enrollment courses.
