Campus Weather Alert

Gordon State College continues to monitor the potential impacts of Tropical Storm Isaias on campus and surrounding communities.

As of Friday, Oct. 9, normal campus operations remain in effect. However, out of an abundance of caution, all on-campus events and activities scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, are cancelled.

The College continues to coordinate with the University System of Georgia, emergency management agencies and state and local officials as weather conditions develop.

Housing & Residence Life

Students remaining on campus throughout the weekend are encouraged to stay weather-aware and monitor their GSC email for important updates.

Housing & Residence Life will communicate additional information and safety instructions directly to residential students as needed.

As a precaution, students remaining on campus should:

  • Charge electronic devices and portable power banks.

  • Keep flashlights and extra batteries readily available.

  • Have appropriate weather-related clothing and supplies on hand.

  • Maintain a supply of nonperishable food, drinking water and essential medications.

  • Secure loose personal belongings and stay away from windows during severe weather.

  • Follow all instructions issued by Housing & Residence Life and campus safety officials.

If severe weather threatens campus, students should follow official sheltering instructions and move to designated safe areas away from windows.

Dining Services

Campus dining services plan to continue operations as scheduled, with adjusted hours already in place for Fall Break.

Dining Hall | Saturday, Oct. 10, through Tuesday, Oct. 13

  • Brunch: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • Dinner: 5 to 7 p.m.

Additional Dining Locations

The Grind, C-Store, Citizen's Chicken and Uptown Sam's will be closed Monday, Oct. 12, and Tuesday, Oct. 13, as part of the scheduled Fall Break operating hours.

Weather-Related Contingency Plan

Should road closures or hazardous travel conditions prevent dining staff from reaching campus, boxed meals will be provided to residential students. Any changes to dining operations will be communicated directly to affected students.

Campus Events & Activities

All on-campus events and activities scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, are cancelled as a precautionary measure.

Additional changes to campus operations or activities will be communicated through official College channels as conditions warrant.

Weather Safety & Emergency Updates

The GSC community is encouraged to remain alert and take appropriate precautions:

  • Monitor local weather forecasts and official emergency alerts.

  • Avoid unnecessary travel during hazardous weather conditions.

  • Never drive through flooded roadways.

  • Keep electronic devices charged and emergency supplies accessible.

  • Follow instructions from campus officials and local emergency management agencies.
