GSC Summer Soccer Camp

From June 5-15, Gordon State College hosted a two-week soccer camp for nearly 70 kids and teenagers aged 5 to 18.

The GSC women’s soccer team and coaches Rijkaard and Edwishkard Jules along with players from the Lamar County High School boys' and girls' soccer teams ensured that the camp participants had fun, stayed active, and learned new skills.

“Over the past two weeks, our main goal was to help them enjoy their time on campus through learning and getting better at playing soccer,” Rijkaard said. “We focused a lot on the basics: passing, dribbling, shooting, and defending. We had a lot of small field games and a couple of big scrimmages to give them a chance to use the skills that we worked on. Overall, it was a great two weeks and we hope that they had as much fun as we did!”

The camp came to a close with a scrimmage game to showcase their skills to invited guests. GSC looks forward to seeing some of these youth competing at Highlander Nation and other arenas in the future.

GSC’s Office of Continuing and Professional Education offers sports, performing arts, and STEAM day camps during the summer. For more information, visit or call 678-359-5123.
