Gordon State College’s third annual Day of Giving on Thursday, March 30 surpassed its goal of $50K by generating over $86K in gifts to benefit the lives of its students and mission of the institution.
GSC Foundation Board of Trustees’ members including emeriti members, Gordon alumni, advisory board, faculty, staff, students and the community provided support for GSC which resulted in the institution exceeding its fundraising efforts in its third year. In March of 2022, GSC exceeded its goal of $25K and raised over $66K.
"We can accomplish great things through the ‘Power of WE,’ and the community proved it again this year,” said Dr. Kirk A. Nooks, GSC president. “I am grateful and humbled by the unwavering support. We could not have done it alone, and the generosity of faculty, staff, students, and community supporters only confirmed that we did not have to go at it alone. Thank you!"
Local businesses that have championed this single-day giving campaign include the Express Clean Cleaners in Barnesville, and both locales of the Corner Café located in Griffin and Zebulon.
Contributions were directed to the Day of Giving’s priority areas such as Highlander Athletics Fund, Fine and Performing Arts Fund, Friends of Gordon Fund, Gap Scholarship Fund and various student scholarship funds.
A total of 55 gifts were given on the day with nine of the gifts being from new, first-time donors.
“Every year we have been able to surpass our goal since the inception of Gordon State College’s Annual Day of Giving which took place on March 30, and I am excited that we continue to raise more and more funds for our students and programs year after year during this campaign,” said Montrese Adger Fuller, GSC vice president of advancement, external relations, and marketing.
