Summer Enrollment Growth Continues at Gordon State College for the Third Year in a Row

Gordon State College experienced an enrollment increase for the summer 2022 semester as 1,048 students enrolled for classes, which reflects a 3.6 percent increase from the summer 2021 term when GSC had 1,012 students enrolled in classes. This increase is also reflected in the full-time enrollment category as 576 students enrolled this summer compared to 556 students in summer of 2021.

Gordon State College had the largest percentage growth in enrollment at 3.6 percent in the State College sector.

“Our approach to stabilizing enrollment has started to make the impact we knew it would,” said GSC President Dr. Kirk A. Nooks. “This summer we were not only able to exceed our own enrollment targets for the third consecutive year, but we were also able to achieve a third summer of growth. To be ranked third in the USG for overall growth is a remarkable testament to the desire for students to access a Highlander experience.”

Classes were offered both online and in-person for the summer semester.

GSC targeted a total of 1,012 students for summer 2022. Increases were also noted for 837 continuing students (1.9% over target), 58 dual enrollment students (13.7% over target), and 54 transfer students (80% over target).

“We were excited to see such positive outcomes for this summer. Having the distinction of being a pacesetter among state colleges makes these gains just that much more meaningful,” said Dean of Enrollment Services Melissa Johnson. “When I say this achievement was a team effort, the entire College came together to realize a goal that was several years in the making. Leveraging the Power of We, the campus community has rallied and remained true to our mission to create access to an exceptional educational experience for students across the region.”

For the fall 2022 semester, GSC is continuing with options for in-person, hybrid and online class selections. Over 3,000 students are projected to attend this fall.
