Gordon State College RN to BSN program has ranked fourth in annual list of best Bachelor of Science in nursing programs in Georgia for 2022.
According to a nursing advocacy organization, RegisteredNursing.org, GSC has been recognized as one of the best in the state for its highly respected online RN to BSN articulation program that allows working RNs to earn their degree in less time. The organization highlighted the RN to BSN program at GSC for its accommodating eight-week course formats, three start-dates per year and its affordable tuition for Georgia residents.
GSC Director of Nursing, Dr. Samantha H. Bishop said the success of the program is mainly due to the dedicated faculty and their commitment to the students.
“I believe that continuing education is very important for nurses, and our RN to BSN program has been restructured to be student friendly, especially for working nurses,” Bishop said. “The success of our program is directly related to our strong and committed faculty and their engagement with our students.”
The nursing advocacy organization’s website states that many healthcare employers prefer to hire BSN-educated RNs. Therefore, many nurses are considering going back to school to complete their baccalaureate education.
GSC Bachelor of Science in nursing is an articulation program designed for those wanting to achieve this goal. It offers registered nurses the opportunity to obtain a baccalaureate through a RN to BSN completion program. The program emphasizes professional development, research, health promotion, community health and leadership. Courses required for the RN to BSN completion program are designed using a combination of online instruction and clinical experiences. After admission, GSC students will typically complete the program in three consecutive semesters.
The GSC Pre-Licensure BSN Nursing program has full approval by the Georgia Board of Nursing. The BSN program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
RegisteredNursing.org believes in providing students with all the information possible to make the right choice when selecting a nursing program. Their official website said they aim to achieve this goal by studying nursing programs to analyze what makes them stand out against the pack.
“This ranking recognizes and validates the efforts of GSC’s Nursing Department in providing more flexible options for practicing nurses desiring to continue their studies,” said Dr. Victor H. Vilchiz, dean of GSC school of nursing, health, and natural sciences.
