Bryan Stephens Appointed as GSC Vice President for Finance and Administration
Gordon State College names Bryan Stephens as the Vice President for Finance and Administration effective Jan. 4, 2022.
Stephens is a career Finance Executive with over 15 years of experience in government and state education finance. For the past 12 years, Stephens worked for multiple Georgia public school districts in various leadership roles. With extensive experience in the K12 education sector, Stephens provided oversight for budgets in excess of $167 million.
“We are delighted to have Mr. Bryan Stephens join us as the new Vice President for Finance and Administration. His experience with budgeting, capital projects and funding sources will be an asset to the institution. We are looking forward to his contributions in Highlander Nation,” said Dr. Kirk A. Nooks, GSC President.
Stephens has overseen all aspects of financial operations including accounting, payroll, budgeting, purchasing and managing state and federal grant funding. His strengths include building fund balance reserves and working collaboratively with leaders to create efficient, effective budgets that support student success.
“I am really excited to join Gordon State College in the role as the Vice President for Finance and Administration. While previously working in the Barnesville community in the K12 sector, I recognized Gordon State as a gem in the Barnesville community, and a shining example of a higher education institution that provides a quality of education to the students. I anticipate working collaboratively with our faculty, staff and students, as well as, local members of the Gordon State community to ensure that our students are as successful as possible. With more than a decade of experience in public education finance, I am aware of the responsibility the role requires. I look forward to helping lead GSC into our future with innovation, compassion and vision,” said Mr. Bryan Stephens, Vice President for Finance and Administration.
Originally from North Carolina, Stephens graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with a major in Economics. He obtained his master’s in business administration from Keller Graduate School of Management. Stephens also completed local Finance Officer Certifications through the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia.
Stephens is an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, enjoys spending weekends around the grill and loves beach vacations.
