Gordon State College Calvin Adams Awarded ACPA New Professional at a Two-Year College

In March of 2022, Calvin Adams, GSC Coordinator of Recreation, Intramurals and Club Sports will be recognized at the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) annual conference in St. Louis, Missouri. Adams was selected as the recipient of the New Professional at a Two-Year College Award with ACPA Commission for Two-Year Colleges.
The purpose, according to ACPA, of The Commission for Two-Year Colleges is directly concerned with issues relevant to student development programs at two-year institutions. Additionally, it is designed to promote the improvement of student development programs, enhance the professional development of student development personnel and serve as an advocate for student development programs at two-year institutions.
"I love being able to see students overcome adversity, tackle new leadership roles, and conquer obstacles that seemed impossible to them,” said Adams. “If I can even somewhat be a helping hand in that process, it means the world to me."
The New Professional at a Two-Year College Award recognizes a new professional employed at a two-year college who has displayed outstanding professional potential and commitment to Student Affairs/Student Development in the two-year college. A new professional is an individual who has begun working at a two-year college within the past five years.
“The entire Division of Student Affairs and I are so proud of Calvin Adams for this most deserving recognition and award," said Dr. Matthew Robison, GSC Dean of Students. “Calvin is a valuable member of the Student Affairs team who always goes above and beyond in support of our students and their co-curricular engagement and support. Calvin is a Student Affairs superstar!”
