Faith Hager Named To NJCAA Softball All-America Third Team
Gordon State College freshman pitcher Faith Hager has been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Softball All-America third team for the 2020-21 academic year.
Hager (Conyers, Ga. / Heritage High School) was GSC’s No. 1 starter all season long as the Highlanders posted a sparkling 34-11 overall record, which included a Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) regular season title with a 21-3 mark.
“This is a really special honor for Faith and our program,” GSC softball head coach Ally Hattermann said. “She and Claire Williams (her primary catcher) worked very hard together this year and played a key role in our success. This is a very deserving honor to earn in comparison to some very good pitchers across the country. I am so happy for Faith and glad that she earned this recognition.”
For the season, Hager appeared in 29 games while starting 22 and posted a 19-8 record with one save in the circle. She pitched in 140 innings, striking out 141, walking 27, allowed only 28 earned runs and held GSC opponents to a .198 batting average.
In GCAA action, Hager went 11-2 with a save while striking out 76, walking 11, surrendered 15 earned runs and allowed opponents a .176 batting average in 75.2 innings of work for the Highlanders.
Hager was the only selection from the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) / NJCAA Region 17 for the 2021 season.
