Zaxby’s-Gordon State Student-Athlete Honor Roll for March 29-April 4

Highlanders’ Athletics is honored to announce the Zaxby’s-Gordon State Student-Athlete Honor Roll for the athletics week of March 29-April 4, 2021.

Throughout the spring, each head coach can nominate a student-athlete from his or her sport to be represented on the honor roll, which will highlight academic and athletic accomplishments for the seven-day week of Monday through Sunday.

For the week of March 29-April 4, here is the Zaxby’s-Gordon State Student-Athlete Honor Roll:

SOFTBALL: Seven student-athletes who have received acceptance into the Gordon State College BSN nursing program for the fall of 2021 – Abby Foster (McDonough, Ga. / Ola HS), Faith Hager (Conyers, Ga. / Heritage HS), Breanna Lee (Concord, Ga. / Pike Co. HS), Taylor McClendon (McDonough, Ga. / Ola HS), Bailey Odom (Danville, Ga. / Bleckley Co. HS), Camden Steele (Jackson, Ga. / Union Grove HS) and Claire Williams (Conyers, Ga. / Heritage HS). Out of the 55 students accepted, seven were from the GSC Softball team, which is currently 23-8 overall, 12-0 in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association and currently on a 16-game winning streak.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Isaiah Wray, a 6-6, 225-pound sophomore from Long Island, N.Y. (Union Grove HS), average 7.9 points-per-game and 7.2 rebounds-per-game for Gordon State during the 2020-21 season. Wray connected on 57.1 percent of his field goals for the Highlanders.

WOMEN’S SOCCER: Sophia Kotopka had a hat trick in Gordon State’s 14-0 win over Andrew College (Ga.) to kick off the 2021 spring regular season on April 2. The midfielder from Riverview, Fla. (East Bay High School) scored her three goals on just four shots as the Highlanders opened the season in grand style.

BASEBALL: Kyle Sterwerf pitched three scoreless and hitless innings with two strikeouts and one walk in the Highlanders’ 13-0 win over Point University (Ga.) junior varsity on March 29. Sterwerf is a freshman left-handed pitcher from Buford, Ga. and Mill Creek High School.
