GSC Athletics Celebrates NGWSD 2021

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and Gordon State College are celebrating the 35th annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day, a day that recognizes the accomplishments of girls and women nationwide while promoting equality in sports.

The NJCAA, GSC and all NJCAA member institutions are celebrating past, present, and future females that have helped shape the NJCAA's history and what it stands for today.

"I'm excited to join with others across the nation in celebration of National Girls & Women in Sports Day," said Molly Simons, NJCAA Vice President for Championships, Governance & Membership. "As the first association to establish a women's division in collegiate athletics, the NJCAA has led the way for many females to pursue their athletic and academic goals. I've seen first-hand the empowerment sports provide not only by building successful college students, but also translating the skills learned on- and off- the field into confident women leaders in life after sports."

GSC sponsors the intercollegiate women's sports of soccer and softball, which provides higher education opportunities to over 40 women as they continue their academic and athletic careers.

"We are proud of the women who have chosen Gordon State College in pursuit of their academic and athletic goals," said Steve Argo, GSC director of athletics. "These women represent GSC with class and integrity, which I have witnessed first-hand in the classroom and on the field. I am thankful that we have head coach Scott Henderson leading our soccer team and head coach Ally Hattermann leading our softball team at GSC."
