Kicklighter Named Dean of School of Arts and Sciences

Dr. Barry Kicklighter has been named Dean of the Gordon State College School of Arts and Sciences.

He will begin his position on July 1.

Kicklighter has been at Gordon State since 2001 when he joined the psychology faculty as an assistant professor.

Departments within the School of Arts and Sciences include Business and Public Services, History and Political Science, Humanities and Fine and Performing Arts, and Mathematics and Natural Sciences.

“Dr. Kicklighter brings a wealth of experience as a Professor of Psychology and as a proven leader,” said Dr. Jeffery Knighton, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. “He has served as the Department Head of the Business and Public Service Department since 2014 and played an instrumental role in the growth of the Human Services, and Management and Administration baccalaureate programs.”

Kicklighter lives in the Senoia area with his wife, Katherine.

“Gordon is experiencing a time of tremendous change, and it is a wonderful time to be a member of the leadership team,” Kicklighter said. “I am excited about the opportunities before this college, and playing a role in its future success.”
