By: Katheryne A. Fields, Director of Marketing
Gordon State College at McDonough and Impact Academy have collaborated to provide a College 101 presentation, a free session for local high school students, parents and guardians. The presentation will provide information and insight on the college admission process, financial aid, scholarship resources, testing and other college planning topics.
The College 101 event is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 11 from 6 PM to 7:30 PM at the Henry County Performing Arts Center. Local college admission representatives will be on-site during and after the presentation with academic program and admission information.
Cristy McAbee, program administrator at Gordon State College at McDonough attended a senior night event organized by Impact Academy, a blended school program that combines diverse resources of Henry County Schools. McAbee said Impact Academy’s informative event inspired her to extend the offer for GSC-McDonough to collaborate and create the College 101 event.
“I realized we could partner and would be able to provide valuable and helpful information to the community,” McAbee said. “The college entrance process can be intimidating, especially for first-generation college students. College 101 is an event that will provide them with the information and resources to navigate college admissions and also encourage them to start planning,”
Registration is not required for the College 101 event. For more information on the event, call 678.359.5035.
