Gordon State College recently named Angiah Davis as Director of Library Services. Davis oversees the library budget, manages library electronic databases, promotes the library and participates in state and national professional organizations while developing a strategic plan.
“I’m very excited to be a member of the Highlander Nation Family”, said Davis. “I believe in the Power of WE and look forward to promoting student success. At the Hightower Collaborative Learning Center and Library, we want the campus and the community to view us as a resource. Whether it’s meeting room space, equipment, or access to information that one seeks, we are happy to help.”
Davis earned a Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies from Florida State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from the State University of West Georgia. Davis comes with a wealth of library experience, including stints at Georgia Perimeter College, Atlanta Technical College, and the Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library, as well as experience in the Fulton County Public Library system. Davis was a participant in the American Library Association (ALA) Leadership institute and has been nominated for multiple awards throughout her career.
Assistant Vice-President for Academic Excellence, Peter Jude Higgins said, “The search committee and I were deeply impressed with Angiah’s student-centered philosophy, and we look forward to the positive impact she will make on our campus.”
