GSC PD, Others to Train on Campus

The Gordon State College Police Department will participate in a training exercise on campus Monday, July 30.

The exercise will also involve Gordon State College administration, a representative from the University System of Georgia, members of the Barnesville Police Department and the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office. It will take place in the Academic Building on the east side of campus and involve an “active shooter” scenario.

“We train throughout the year but participate in an active exercise on campus at least once a year,” said  GSC Police Chief Jeff Mason. "It's important to stay current on techniques and to train with our local law enforcement professionals.

The exercise begins at 7 a.m. with most of the activity occurring between 9 and 11:45 a.m.
