The Gordon State College Department of History and Political Science is sponsoring the Fourth Annual FDR Lecture Tuesday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m.

The event with be held in the Student Center Auditorium. It is free and the public is invited to attend.

The evening will feature FDR historians and experts, Kathryn Smith and Paul Sparrow.

Kathryn Smith is a journalist and writer with a life-long interest in FDR. A native of the South, she earned a bachelor's degree in journalism at the University of Georgia. Smith has worked as a daily newspaper reporter and editor and has been the book columnist for the Anderson Independent Mail for 20 years. She has been involved through Rotary International in the worldwide effort to eradicate polio, and has lectured and spoken on FDR's leadership in that arena. She is the author of an oral history of World War II told by living veterans and civilians, A Necessary War. Her most recent book, The Gatekeeper, is the biography of Missy LeHand, FDR's private secretary and de facto Chief of Staff. Smith will appear as LeHand during the lecture.

Paul Sparrow is the Director of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum in Hyde Park, New York .Before moving to the FDR Library he was the Deputy Director and Senior VP for Broadcasting and New Media at the Newseum, the interactive museum of news in Washington D.C. He is also an Emmy-Award winning television producer, having created more than 300 hours of prime-time programming and more than a dozen documentaries and network specials.
