GSC Mourns Loss of Faculty Member

Gordon State College is sad to announce the death of Lynnette Smyth, professor of economics.

Smyth became ill early Sunday morning and died Sunday evening at a local hospital.

"Gordon State College extends its deepest sympathies to Lynette's husband, Mark, her family and friends as well as her campus associates, friends and students," said Gordon State College President Max Burns.

Smyth joined the Gordon State College faculty in 2000. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Tennessee, Master's at the University of Missouri and Ph.D. at Rutgers University.

She and her husband made their home in Barnesville.

Final arrangements are pending.
