The Health Information Management Program of Gordon State College in Barnesville, GA will begin using an electronic health records system (EHR), Azalea EHR, provided by Azalea Health Innovations (AHI), Inc. in January of 2013.
After reading of another college using Azalea EHR in an article featured in the Georgia Health Information Management Association (GHIMA) newsletter, Associate Professor of Health Sciences & Informatics Administration, Nanci Cross became interested in adopting the simple, cloud based EHR. Cross was impressed with the streamlined and user friendly system; “Within a few uses I was able to easily navigate through the comprehensive system.”
The Health Information Management Program is currently in the development stage but intends to utilize Azalea EHR in several courses in 2013, adding additional courses in subsequent semesters. Cross expects students to gain superior skills and knowledge that are essential for today’s healthcare practice, “Students will love the hands-on training and direct interaction with their education that Azalea EHR will give them”. She continues to say, “We appreciate (AHI)’s commitment to enhancing education and strengthening the healthcare industry’s workforce!”
