Living Learning Connections (LLC) – What are they and what are the benefits?
Gordon State College has created unique learning connections in specific residence halls geared toward students who are actively engaged in a learning and living environment that both nurtures and supports their educational goals. For the upcoming year, Gordon State College Student Housing will hosts Living Learning Connections related to Honors (Commons A), Upperclassmen (Commons B), and Recreation/Wellness (Commons C). Commons C (Recreation/Wellness) will look to hosts athletes and others who have interest in health/fitness activities. The Upperclassmen Floor will be occupied by students classified as junior and/or senior and have different floor privileges. The Honors Floor, featured in Commons A, will be for students with high SAT scores and Grade Point Averages. These students will have frequent interaction with a Faculty Fellow-in-Residence/Professor (instructionally and programmatically). Students who participate in an LLC often have higher GPAs, more positive campus experiences and are more likely to graduate. Potential benefits include getting to know professors and classmates better‚ greater access to academic resources‚ and specialized programs directly in your residence hall. There are a number of events scheduled for each LLC. Gordon Commons (A/B/C) feature study lounges and mini-recreation rooms (with televisions, lounge furniture, card tables, and gaming stations) where residents can hang out with friends and build community. All students are encouraged to participate in programs and explore different opportunities. Prospective residents may note their preference to live in a Living Learning Connection via the online housing application.
