Welcome to our compliance certification website. Gordon State College was originally accredited by SACSCOC in 1941, reaffirmed in 2017, and underwent its fifth year review in 2022. The next reaffirmation of accreditation will take place in 2027.

Gordon State College, as a unit of the University System of Georgia, has been in continuous operation since 1972. Today's Gordon traces its beginnings to 1832 when Josiah Holmes built a frame schoolhouse in the center of the quiet town of Barnesville so that local children could learn the classics. The College has undergone tremendous growth and change and is now designated a state college. Today, approximately 3,100 students attend GSC, with 600 living on campus. The College offers twelve baccalaureate degrees and nine associate degrees.

Reminiscent of Josiah Holmes' dedication to teaching the classics more than 160 years ago, Gordon State College is committed to serving students' educational needs for the 21st century. Gordon embraces a multi-ethnic, multigenerational student population and a highly-qualified, dedicated faculty. The College provides an affordable, creative and quality educational experience integrating personable academic instruction in a technological environment.
