Transfer Student Orientation

What is Transfer Student Orientation?

If you are coming here from another institution, this is your time to see our campus as well as meet our faculty and staff. You can think of it as your first day as a Highlander! Transfer Student Orientation (or TSO) is mandatory for all incoming transfer students because we are committed to ensuring that you have all the resources you need to get off to a successful start here at Gordon State. If you are transferring to Gordon State from another institution, you MUST attend TSO before you can be enrolled in Summer and/or Fall 2019 classes.

How do I sign up to come to a Transfer Student Orientation?

Click here to sign up for a Transfer Student Orientation! You must be fully accepted to Gordon State in order to attend an orientation! Need to check your application status before you register for TSO? Check your application status here

Please note that you MUST register for an TSO in order to participate. Our goal is to create the best possible orientation experience for our incoming students, and to be able to do that, we need to know who will be attending. So, sorry—no walk-ins allowed. Please note that there is a $15 NSO fee, which will be added to your student fees. You do not need to pay anything now.

What can I expect at Transfer Student Orientation?

Tours, interaction with current Gordon students and other incoming transfer students, interaction with faculty and staff, and more! Once you arrive on campus, you will meet your Gordon Orientation Leader (who is also a Gordon student). He/she will be your guide for the day. Along with other transfer students, you will participate in a variety of sessions designed to prepare you for campus life and academic success here at Gordon State!

Perhaps the most important part of TSO is a series of academic advising and information sessions. At the end of those sessions, all transfer students will be escorted to a computer lab to make their schedules. Students who do not attend a TSO will not be given a schedule.

When is Transfer Student Orientation?

Transfer Student Orientations will be held on the dates listed below. It is a full-day event, with check-in beginning at 8:00 AM and activities ending around 3:00 PM. New Gordon State Highlanders will be provided lunch at Highlander Hall, our excellent dining facility! All other guests must pay for lunch (it’s a very reasonable price, and the food is delicious). Please note that you must arrive on time in order to meet your student orientation leader. Students who arrive after orientation activities begin will not be allowed to participate. It is also imperative that you stay for the entire session to ensure that you will start classes as a prepared Highlander.
