This semester's ceremony will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019 on Lambdin Green. The ceremony will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m.

NO BALLOONS, POSTERS, AIR HORNS OR OTHER PARTY MATERIAL WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE CEREMONY.

Guest Admittance

Graduation will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Lambdin Green.  Additional viewing will be located in Russell Hall, rooms 208 and 211.

Stuart E. Rayfield

Dr. Stuart Rayfield serves as the vice chancellor for leadership and institutional development for the University System of Georgia (USG), a position in which she started in August 2018.  In this role Dr. Rayfield coordinates and facilitates leadership development for the University System Office and targeted USG leaders.  Additionally, she works with individual institutions within the USG to identify opportunities for growth and development in areas of challenge.  Previously, Dr. Rayfield served as the interim president at Gordon State College and at Bainbridge State College.  Prior to her service in these roles, Dr. Rayfield held the Frank D. Brown Distinguished Chair in Servant Leadership at Columbus State University (CSU) as a tenured faculty member, teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level.  In addition to her teaching activities, she served as the co-lead for the CSU SACSCOC reaffirmation, as interim associate provost for undergraduate education and as the Director of the Servant Leadership Program.

Before coming to Columbus State University, Dr. Rayfield worked at Total Systems Services (TSYS) as an instructional designer and facilitator for two years.  Prior to holding that position, she held positions at Auburn University, Vanderbilt University, Middle Tennessee State University and the University of Alabama.

Dr. Rayfield received her Doctor of Education in leadership, policy and organizations from Peabody College at Vanderbilt University, her Master of Arts in higher education administration from the University of Alabama and her Bachelor of Arts in political science from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee.  Dr. Rayfield is married to David Rayfield and they have two daughters.

Apply to Graduate

Any student who plans to graduate from Gordon State College is required to complete the Online Graduation Application process in Banner Web (link found in bottom footer of this page). Step by step instructions for the Online Graduation Application process can be accessed here. All applications will be reviewed by the Gordon State College Registrar's Office to insure that all requirements for graduation are or will be satisfied by the anticipated date of graduation.

Students must submit their Online Graduation Applications no later than the official mid-term date of the semester prior to the anticipated semester of graduation. A student who plans to graduate at the end of the Spring Semester, for example, is required to submit an online application for graduation no later than the mid-term date of the previous Fall Semester.

Register to Walk

If you plan to walk in the procession, you must login to the Graduation Ceremony Registration System to verify whether or not you will be participating in the graduation ceremony. Here you will also verify how your name should appear on your diploma and on the graduation program.

Please note: You must participate in the Gordon State College Graduation Ceremony in order to receive a Gordon State College diploma cover with your diploma.
