Atlanta Poet and Editor to Present a Reading at Gordon

03-16-2016

The community is invited to hear Atlanta poet and editor Karen Head present a brief reading of her work at Gordon State College.

She will be on campus Tuesday, March 22 at 5 p.m. in the Foundation Room, room 229 of the Student Center.

Her visit is sponsored by a Literary Events Grant of Georgia and is free.

Head is the author of three works, Sassing, My Paris Year and Shadow Boxes. Along with three colleagues, she recently published an anthology of occasional verse, On Occasion: Four Poets, One Year.

Her poetry appears in a number of national and international journals and anthologies. Her first digital poetry project, Poetic Rub, was featured at the E-Poetry 2007 festival in Paris. Another digital project was a collaborative exquisite corpse poem created via Twitter while she stood atop the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square as part of Antony Gormley’s One and Other Project.

She was the winner of the 2011 Oxford International Women's Festival Poetry Prize. She teaches at Georgia Tech, serves on the Poetry Atlanta Board, and in the summer of 2016 she will become the Editor of the Atlanta Review.
