2002 Fall Choral Concert - Gordon Choirs Present John Rutter’s ‘Requiem’
On Thursday, October 3, 2002, the Gordon College Choirs presented John Rutter's stirring Requiem, accompanied by a six-member orchestra. The 40-minute work explores the various emotions surrounding life and death. Ultimately, it is an expression of hope and assurance. The music ranges from frightful and angry (Agnus Dei) to peaceful and serene ("The Lord is My Shepherd") to ethereal and mystic (Lux Aeterna). At the conclusion of the Requiem, the choir presented the uplifting Moses Hogan arrangement of "Ride On, King Jesus" as an encore.
