Summer Institute Application

Summer Institute on Conflict Management in Higher Education
Application - 2015

The Summer Institute is a weeklong intensive training for staff and faculty to become mediators to assist employees (faculty and/or staff) to proceed in the informal process of resolving a conflict rather than the formal process of proceeding through dispute review by the staff or faculty grievance committees. This year the Institute will convene at Chateau Elan in Braselton, GA (less than a two hour drive from Barnesville).

The Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee is part of the Board of Regents’ Initiative and Policy Direction on Conflict Resolution passed in 1995 and is composed of Tonya Johnson, the college’s staff ADR liaison; Dr. Peter Boltz, the college’s faculty ADR liaison; Sue Gilpin, 2012 alumna of the Institute; and Dr. Lynn Rumfelt, 2014 alumna of the Institute. The fees for this training will be provided. They invite you to contact them for more information and answer any questions you may have.

The ADR Committee is soliciting applications to attend to this year’s Institute June 8-12, 2015.

When you’ve completed the application please hit the “submit” button below. Applications will be accepted up to April 15, 2015. The ADR Committee will review all applications and present their recommendations to President Burns for the final decision. The committee will notify the person chosen and publish his or her name by April 30, 2015.

  • Are you:
  • Have you ever served on either the faculty or staff grievance committee?
  • Would you be willing to participate in the ADR Committee?
  • Would you be willing to share your experience at the Institute with other staff and/or faculty by giving a short talk?
  • Will you be able to commit to the time away from campus? (Will your absence be approved?)
