Forty-Eight Runs Equal Four Wins!

4. 21. 2014

They finally were able to get their four-game series in with West Georgia Technical College but it didn't finish until late Monday afternoon. After numerous weather delays, Gordon State College completed a sweep of the Knights with an 18 - 7 victory in Douglasville. With today's win, the Highlanders scored 48 runs in the four-game series and improved their conference mark to 18 - 10 on the year. However, GSC will continue their back-to-back-to-back schedule as they start a new series Tuesday at Georgia Highlands. The Chargers will then return the favor on Friday as they travel to Barnesville for a game under the lights. In addition to the GSC-GHC series, Gordon State will have one more conference week of play before the post-season tournament in mid-May. Go Gordon!

Wet Grounds Cause Second Change!

4. 19. 2014

The baseball series with West Georgia Tech will now adjust plans for the second time in a row. Today's game at WGTC has been moved to Sunday in Waco, Georgia. Due to Easter, the doubleheader will start later in the afternoon as the first pitch will be thrown at 4 p.m.. The final game of the series must now be rolled over to Monday.

It's A Wash For Baseball...Again!

4. 18. 2014

Friday's game between Gordon State and West Georgia Tech will have to wait one more day. Rain has now forced the contest to Saturday and the doubleheader is set for 4 p.m. in Waco. Weather still may create a problem for Game Two as the forecast shows the rain staying in the area for one more day. If any other changes are made, we will post them on the athletic website.

West Georgia Tech Series Starts With Win

4. 17. 2014

The Gordon State - West Georgia Tech baseball series began a day late but that didn't seem to bother GSC. It did take three innings of play before either team could score. After the Highlanders gained a 2 - 0 advantage after three, the Knights would then tie the game in the top of the fourth inning. From that point forward, it was all Gordon State College!

Saturday's Second Game Salvages Series

4. 13. 2014

It wasn't looking good on Saturday for the Gordon State College baseball team after they dropped the third game to Middle Georgia State College. The Knights had just collected their third straight win over the Highlanders with a 7 - 0 decision in Cochran. MGSC was also on the verge of sweeping Gordon State in a very important four-game series. However, the Highlanders vowed not to let that happen in the final contest.

Wirsu Wins Pitcher Of The Week!

4. 11. 2014

Former Gordon State College baseball players continue to make a big impact at their four-year programs across the state of Georgia. The latest award winner is former Highlander Josh Wirsu who was named Southern Conference's Pitcher of the Week for April 7. The Georgia Southern University standout tossed a complete game at The Citadel on the previous Saturday. Wirsu struck out 13 batters for the second-straight weekend and threw the Eagles' first complete game of the season in a 10 - 1 win over the Bulldogs in Game One of their doubleheader. The junior righthander scattered six hits and allowed just one run to improve to a Southern Conference best 6 - 2. He walked just one batter and tied his season-high with 13 strikeouts on 132 pitches. Congratulations Josh!

Highlanders Already Down Two Games

4. 10. 2014

It's not what you want to see when you're battling your conference rival but Gordon State College is already down two games to Middle Georgia State College. The Knights would score two runs in the top of the eighth inning and it created all the cushion they would need in Game One as MGSC won 6 - 3. The series moved to Cochran on Thursday but the outcome was the same in Game Two. The Knights three-run third inning would be plenty as they took a two game advantage over the Highlanders with a 4 - 0 victory. The series remains in Cochran on Saturday as the two teams will play a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Gordon State is now 20 - 20 overall with a 13 - 9 conference mark.

Missed It By That Much!

4. 6. 2014

Gordon State College had already won two games and was cruising into Saturday's doubleheader in hopes of a sweep. However, a run in the bottom of the eighth inning by East Georgia State College in the afternoon opener eliminated any further hope by the Highlanders. The Bobcats would ruin the possibility of a clean sweep and take Game Three 3 - 2 in Swainsboro.
