The Knights had just collected their third straight win over the Highlanders with a 7 - 0 decision in Cochran. MGSC was also on the verge of sweeping Gordon State in a very important four-game series. However, the Highlanders vowed not to let that happen in the final contest.

Former Gordon State College baseball players continue to make a big impact at their four-year programs across the state of Georgia. The latest award winner is former Highlander Josh Wirsu who was named Southern Conference's Pitcher of the Week for April 7. The Georgia Southern University standout tossed a complete game at The Citadel on the previous Saturday. Wirsu struck out 13 batters for the second-straight weekend and threw the Eagles' first complete game of the season in a 10 - 1 win over the Bulldogs in Game One of their doubleheader. The junior righthander scattered six hits and allowed just one run to improve to a Southern Conference best 6 - 2. He walked just one batter and tied his season-high with 13 strikeouts on 132 pitches. Congratulations Josh!

It's not what you want to see when you're battling your conference rival but Gordon State College is already down two games to Middle Georgia State College. The Knights would score two runs in the top of the eighth inning and it created all the cushion they would need in Game One as MGSC won 6 - 3. The series moved to Cochran on Thursday but the outcome was the same in Game Two. The Knights three-run third inning would be plenty as they took a two game advantage over the Highlanders with a 4 - 0 victory. The series remains in Cochran on Saturday as the two teams will play a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Gordon State is now 20 - 20 overall with a 13 - 9 conference mark.
